Paper 2 television: life on mars

  Genre: The prodominate genre of life on mars is crime drama which also has a sub genre of science fiction. Throughout the episode the show follows the codes and conventions of. crime dram with there being a murder case that needs to be solved, the props that are used in the show also follow the codes and conventions of a crime drama as we see police cars and the standard yellow police tape at the scene of the crime. However the show also has an element of science fiction and we can see this in the episode when the main character time travels back in time which is a common convention of the science fiction genre.   Contexts- The music video explores the flooding in New Orleans which is a result of Hurricane Katrina. The video also portrays police brutality going on in America by sitting on top of a police car which has connotations of power as her positioning is higher than the police car, the car then sank into the water at the end of the video which could suggest at the end of the day police brutality can be defeated. She also references black children are beautiful without conforming to the western idea of beauty by showing black children one of which was her daughter wearing their hair naturally in an afro.   Format of the show Late Night Women's Hour is a podcast on BBC Radio 4  and a spin off  Temes on Late Night Women's Hour There are many themes on the podcast that women can relate to and find interesting, such as 'Not wanting children' this is a topic many young women (25-35) can relate to as that is something they might be considering with their partner. There is also a topic on Love Island that many women would be interested in as it is a big show about love and relationships. Structure and content of  typical episodes  ( interviews, feature pieces, discussion , phone-in , etc.) Each episode lasts between 9-30 minutes long.   Best Thing I Never Had Style of the video- The video is primarily focused on telling the narrative behind the song. This is done by the video showing scenes with Beyoncé (the main character) with her life now getting married to a better man and scenes where it shows the character in her past with her ex partner who did her wrong. This narrative reflects the song as there are many lyrics such as 'bet it sucks to be you right now' to show that Beyoncé has a better partner now and that her ex partner missed out on having her. Star Persona- The video highlights Beyoncé's persona as it shows her as an independent women as she had the courage to leave her ex boyfriend who didn't treat her right and then she found a man who does. Key elements of an independent film Independent films have a small budget and often have to be funded by multiple companies. Most of the time they do not contain big stars. The films can be found online most of the time as they are hardly shown in the cinema. They tend to have open ending and contain a deeper meaning. Who is the director and what type of films does he make? The director of the film is Ken Loach, an English film maker. He is known to create films that reflect social issues and promoting social change. I, Daniel Blake is a drama set in Newcastle about a man who has suffered a heart attack and has been advised to stay off work however to get benifits he has to travel thought the Uk, when he is in a job center he meets a women and they become friends so they both don't end up homeless. Radio Industry: Initial

  Radio 1 Radio one has a younger target audience compared to the other radio stations with a target audience of men and women under the age of 29, this is because it contains pop music which mainly a younger audience would listen too. We can also tell its aimed at a younger audience as it contains a writing competition for 'young writers'.  The station is inclusive and is aimed at both men and women, we can see it is aimed at men as it contains things that men would be interested in such as 'match of the day' and it contains things women might be interested in such as the 'di salon' podcast for people interested in hair dressing. Radio 3 Radio 3 is aimed for an older audience around the age of 20-30 . This is because the music genre played on the radio is classical. However the station does have elements for younger people as it contains topics about social media which many younger people will have. Radio 4 The target audience for radio 3 are adults 35 and abov
